And I believe Obama is still well above George W. Bush approval ratings.
***last I looked Bush was out of office.  And Bush at least had decent unemployment, even post 911.
Actually, job losses started under Bush and continued to climb from 2001-2008.  He had growing unemployment for eight years-culminating in the crash of 2008.  
However, the point is, Obama's approval ratings are uncertain indicators.  Afterall, both Reagan and Bush got elected in spite of having low approval numbers going into an election cycle.
