Okay, again, this was written after the short-form certificate had been
"verified by independent journalists and vouched for by state authorities,"
as stated in the article. That is, *after* the question had been raised and
addressed. While I personally wouldn't jump to racism as the cause of
continuing clamor, one can't really blame editorialists for speculating
*anything* at that point.

Well, there you have it: Jesse Jackson does, in fact, accuses birthers of
being racists.

For my part, I've not seen anyone accuse anyone of being a racist just for
asking the question of whether Obama was born in the U.S.  I
*have* seen (and you have provided numerous links) of people accusing
perpetrators of the *ongoing controversy* racists.

**Wonder if that is really a difference?  Seriously, who cares at which
stage they are slurred, a slur is a slur.
