I think there is a difference between saying "I don't like *the* black 
superheroes."  and "I don't like black superheroes."  With the latter it is not 
unreasonable to infer an important factor in the dislike is the color of the 
superhero.  Whereas with the former I think many of your questions are very 
possible and reasonable explanations.  That being said if comics are as rife 
with political correctness as I sometimes hear tell, (no independent 
confirmation), than it could be taken as a comment as to the politics.  


I remember one black superhero, he was a marvel comic, I think he showed up in 
Spiderman, probably late 70s early 80s  I thought he was cool and a bas ass, but 
he admittedly wasn't as "super" as other superheroes.  I'm not up on comics 
though to know what the current crop of superheroes is.

I'm going to ask a charged question, hoping that the room will take the question 
seriously before writing it off.

Clearly, this statement /sounds/ racist, but must it be? Is this actually 
/automatically/ a racist statement? Correlation does not imply causation. Can't 
a person have a preference without it being full blown race-hatred? (I'm 
thinking here of black superheroes perhaps being of lesser objective quality 
than other superheroes, not because of race, but because of the quality of the 
writers. I can't think of any major black superheroes, but admit my knowledge of 
the genre is spotty at best.)
