In a world where all were treated as equal that would be true. One is about opening up opportunities for whom much is denied (Affirmative Action). The other about opening doors for those to who much has been given. Affirmative Action is about helping people who were help back by the culture and government. To argue they are the same is pretty disingenuous.

If you condone affirmative action, this is true. You are acknowledging that for quite some time? The deck was stacked against certain groups. For much of our history, some people *were* more equal than the others. And that is why Affirmative Action was created, to fight that disparity. You can argue that it is less needed now, but Obama isn't going to school now. He went to school in a time when the inequality was there.
And are you really going to claim we live in a society where all are equal? Where the poor man has all the opportunities of the rich man?
