Who said they never work? The accusation was that they generate a whole lot more false leads than accurate ones. This doesn't change that. It also does not change the question of the morality of those techniques. It also was a small part of the overall work-and it took damn near a decade to come through. The argument was always "If a bomb is going to go off in 24 hours you need to be able to use these techniques to get results quickly!" This took seven years to solve.
No apologies are owed.
