Of course.  But my point here is that the association of "Geronimo" with 
"jumping" is a meme and nothing more.  If the paratroopers in question had 
been watching Gone with the Wind the night before, they could just as 
easily have yelled "Oh Ashley!" or "Scarlett O'Hara!" instead.

If, yes.  If.  But until these protests came from out of left field, it 
had never even occurred to me that that was the association they might 
have intended.  I mean, if the association of "Geronimo" with "jumping" 
goes back to the military itself, then I see no reason to assume that the 
military meant anything *other* than "jumping" in this case.
