Wow, that seems cheap to me these days. Especially when I consider that the Canadian dollar is worth slightly more than the American dollar right now. (Locally, it's been hovering between CDN$1.38 and CDN$1.41 per litre.) This is why I don't mind driving to the States to pick up my parcels. I don't mind it one little bit. (The fact that the border is only, like, 20 minutes from the preschool my kids attend makes going to the States for parcels and cheap gas all the easier.) And last time I checked (i.e. last Monday), I think gas was actually closer to US$4.19 per gallon there. We still haven't topped CDN$1.50 per litre, though.
