" Better than both Iron Man films" Really? That's saying something. "definitely better than both Hulk films." Nowhere to go but up there.... -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of pcg Sent: Sunday, May 08, 2011 3:18 PM To: DADL (off topic) Subject: [DADL-OT] Thor Thumbs up from this viewer! I've been openly mocking the idea of a Thor movie for a long time. I've never been a fan of the comics, and just couldn't imagine any way to make a flick that wouldn't be laughable. When the trailers started showing up, my expectactions seemed to be confirmed. What a delightful surprise, then, to find that it's easily my favorite flick yet from Marvel Studios. Better than both Iron Man films, and definitely better than both Hulk films. "Thor" contains the perfect blend of grandeur, silliness, gravitas, and light-heartedness. Perfect summer fun, full of fun performances and wonderful special effects. Director Branagh hit all the right notes here. I also feel that, between this movie and the trailers I've seen for "Green Lantern," I'm kinda (surprisingly) stoked to see comic book movies blowing up into full-on, balls-out craziness. All the big super-hero films of the last decade have been rooted in a muted, real-world milieu, justified with pseudo-science. That was cool, and I like those movies, but it's fun now to see heroes battled cosmic foes in blatantly fantastic settings. So over the top, and full of silly fun.
