"With regard to the idea of whether you have a right to health care, you have realize what that implies. It’s not an abstraction. I’m a physician. That means you have a right to come to my house and conscript me. It means you believe in slavery. It means that you’re going to enslave not only me, but the janitor at my hospital, the person who cleans my office, the assistants who work in my office, the nurses. "Basically, once you imply a belief in a right to someone’s services — do you have a right to plumbing? Do you have a right to water? Do you have right to food? — you’re basically saying you believe in slavery. I’m a physician in your community and you say you have a right to health care. You have a right to beat down my door with the police, escort me away and force me to take care of you? That’s ultimately what the right to free health care would be." - Sen. Rand Paul. Think Progress Seriously... he's questioning the access to basic human needs like water and food. This is not logical at all. So, I guess Rand Paul believes in slavery-he is pro-life and believes in the *right* to life... "Rights=Slavery". Remember that people. ***right to water? I have to pay for mine. I have no *right* to go to your tap and drink from it. My city charges me for a human need. ***his idea is that by reducing certain services to *rights* you then obligate the people who provide those services. It is a far fetched extension of the current policies, but there is some truth. If he is a doctor and is forced to provide care to some people by law (probably at below market rates too), well, that is coming far too close to slavery to be happy about. Why do you think so many doctors hate having to accept Medicare patients? ***I think he is sensationalizing it, but he is doing so by taking their own policies to their logical conclusion. -- dadl-ot mailing list http://mail.thehood.us/mailman/listinfo/dadl-ot_thehood.us http://news.gmane.org/gmane.music.dadl.ot
