>You can believe abortion and homosexuality are bad things... but you should not >get to force your religious views on them via law. < Shouldn't the same apply to health care, welfare, financial aid, etc.? >This is what I find so troubling about all the Tea Party elected officials. < Can you list *all* the Tea Party elected officials? Over generalizations don't help your argument. >All over the country there are tea party guys trying to undo the repeal of DADT, >abortion rights, gay marriage and a host of other things.< Ignoring the abortion question what are the "host of other things"? >They feel MY right to swing MY fist ends at their face...but they should be able >to punch me in the face repeatedly.< Is this your coming out of the closet post? Seriously how are *you* being punched in the face? >I wish they really believed it. Because while folks try and convince me the Tea >Party isn't JUST a conservative movement, it seems like the Tea Party candidates >are doing everything they can to contradict those claims < DADT - is there a right to join the military? Abortion - I said I'd ignore it and will let someone else deal with it if they choose to, I'm pro choice that way. Gay marriage - I don't know what a particular tea partyer's position is on civil unions is, but I think it is a fair bet that much of the objection to gay marriage is a matter of word definition. Some folks sincerely believe that a marriage is between a man and a woman and think it is as appropriate to label the union of a same sex couple marriage as it is to say grass is red. I no longer care about the issue because we, the church, ceded the issue to govt a long time ago so we shouldn't complain about changing the definition of the word. But wanting to maintain a traditional definition of a word is a far cry from punching anyone in the face, even metaphorically speaking. Host of other things - Well I'd say you are completely, 100%, empirically wrong about a "host of other things"..
