You have never been in the military, that is obvious. Yes Virginia, there are legitimate arguments about gays in the military. Let me ask you a question. If you have a daughter, would you be ok with her joining the military? No trick question, I assume yes. If you found out that she had to live in an open bay dorm with men, had to shower with men in a 12 tap communal shower, share a bathroom with men that had no stalls between the commodes, would you still be ok? Because the men promise not to sneak peaks or anything. Or leave the parenting out of it. If you told women that is what they have to face, would they be ok with it? Hell no. So why should men have to be told the same thing about gay men? Are we truly expecting Gay men to be so morally superior that they would never look at a straight man's penis? And we tell the straight guys to suck it up and not to be bigots for being concerned. And don't get me wrong, I am all for them serving, which they could with DADT. I worked with an ex army guy who was gay and had no issue with DADT. But openly serving Gays in the military requires a reevaluation of how servicemen are trained and how they live day to day. Otherwise you introduce policies that are begging for discrimination challenges and or accusations of unfairness. The least of which is that women still get preferential treatment, an inequality that I cannot imagine will ever be changed. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of [email protected] Sent: Thursday, May 12, 2011 12:55 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [DADL-OT] Rand Paul Supports Drug Legalization-Right? **I am sure you fully support the values you like, such as not killing, not stealing etc ad naseum. Sure. I said "not all" didn't I? If there is a strong argument that has no reliance on religion? Go for it. I have yet to see anything resembling a strong argument against gays in the military or Gay marriage from it's opponents.
