Farewell to the 4th amendment

To depressing to elaborate upon. The only consolation is that the Kentucky
Supreme Court could rule that the mere sound of movement behind the closed door
of a home does not create exigent circumstances. If they had done that in the
first place this case might not have been granted certiorari. As it is now, if
the police mistakenly show up at your door and hear you moving about inside
after they knock and announce themselves, they are entitled to presume that you
are destroying evidence and break down the door and search your home.

If interested note the language with which Alito talks about contact with the
police - it is so unbelievably out of touch with the experience of the people
the 4th Amendment is designed to protect. It would be laughable, but for the
seriousness of the erosion of the 4th Amendment.
