C'mon Karl, you know what he means.  How you get to you here from that there is 
beyond me.   


My rights end at the tip of your nose and then your rights kick in.  It is 
perfectly legitimate for a govt. to provide a means for enforcing those rights 
whether through a court system or law enforcement.  Of course that reflects the 
moral value of freedom, which from a govt. perspective ought to be the only 
moral value considered.

What I am talking about is the govt. infringing on my rights, (liberty - one of 
the big three), for things that have nothing to do with your, or anyone else's, 
rights.  A better question is that if the govt. legislates as it currently does 
why doesn't it make it a crime to lie, commit adultery, covet your neighbor, 
worship idols, etc.?  It is the logical extension of criminalizing drugs and 
matters between consenting adults.

So the police should not punish murderers?

Obviously no one advocates that, but the truth is that we are ok with some
of the morality the government legislates.  This boils down to the details.

In other words, should people have the freedom to sin? I think we already
do. I think have a responsibility *not *to, but I don't know that it's
government's job to legislate morality.
