In 1967, you mean?  My impression was that the Israelis launched a 
pre-emptive attack when they saw the Arab nations massing their armies -- 
so I don't know that the Arabs ever got as far as actually invading.

With one key difference being the practical reality that no one alive 
today can remember a U.S. *without* the land it now inhabits, whereas 
there are plenty of people alive today who can remember when Israel didn't 
even *exist*, never mind when its borders were different.
