Couldn't disagree more with you on the Mallonee line.  More than enough nuance 
there, having done a number of closing statements myself I know whereof I 
speak.

Oh, I like Johne's line much, much better.

"Making a point" and "leaving a mark" are almost the exact same thing -- I've 
got a picture of a dimple in my head, either way -- but it's the *tone*, or 
*meaning*, of those expressions that is different.

Whereas there's no such comparison, no such pivoting of nuance, between "closing 
statement" and "parting shot".
