I guess I disagree at least to a point that not accepting the trinity makes you not a Christian. I think there are far more substantive elements. But regardless, the Mormon texts pretty clearly affirm the Mormon concurrence with it. Or is the trinity a deal breaker? I'd say it is, yes. I mean, the earliest Christians believed that God is One and that Jesus is God -- and this is why they split off from all the other Jews. The full doctrine of the Trinity didn't come until later, but it basically grows out of the fact that these two ideas (and one or two others) had to be affirmed simultaneously in a way that made sense.
