They see it as a ploy to win their votes at the expense of their children/grandchildren. You know what? Children and grandchildren are already screwed. They will not get the lollipops that their grandparents and parents voted for themselves. And their country may devolve into a third-world existence besides. I agree about it being a "ploy to win their votes". And I commend the seniors that see it that way. But I think there are far too many others that will not vote for anything that reduces their benefits. That is why a "ploy" is probably necessary. What I like about Ryan's plan (and there are parts I *don't* like) is that it takes the problem seriously. No one else seems to be doing that. The Dems *know* we can't sustain "Medicare as we know it" yet here they are squawking about the bad Republicans that want to take away everything from everyone. When are we going to get to the point where the Dems say, yes, we need to reform Medicare, but here's what we want to do to keep the middle class & poor from being the only ones that sacrifice. How about that "adult discussion" that Obama *said* he wanted? -- dadl-ot mailing list http://mail.thehood.us/mailman/listinfo/dadl-ot_thehood.us http://news.gmane.org/gmane.music.dadl.ot
