A lot of consorts are unpopular (for example, > Queen Rania, Jordan's current Hashemite hottie). That's a long time. Longer than anyone in history? Hmmm... Well, Elizabeth II has been Queen of the United Kingdom for 59 years and 125 days, which is longer than anyone else save Victoria (63 years and 216 days), and while Elizabeth II has had Philip by her side the entire time, Victoria had Albert for only 21 years (from their marriage in 1840 -- three years after Victoria ascended to the throne -- to his death in 1861; Victoria went on to reign as a widow for another 40 years). Hmmm, there's another question: Which monarchs have reigned for the longest periods of time as widows or widowers? Or as singles, period? -- dadl-ot mailing list http://mail.thehood.us/mailman/listinfo/dadl-ot_thehood.us http://news.gmane.org/gmane.music.dadl.ot
