I was watching a movie the other day -- I forget which one -- in which 
someone goes to a bank and it's a TD, and I wondered if the film in 
question had been shot in Canada.  But no, it was all shot in the States. 
And then, a few days ago, I came across a story about a guy who "robbed" 
an RBC -- that would be Royal Bank of Canada -- in North Carolina, just so 
he could go to jail and get some free American health care.

I don't know what to make of that, really, but it's ... interesting.  It 
almost makes up for all those La-Z-Boy stores and whatnot that have opened 
on this side of the border, spreading their mispronunciation of the letter 
Z.  Almost, that is, but not quite.

Ah, the good old driver's-license days.  Well I remember how a U.S. 
customs agent chastised me for not having a passport when I drove south a 
year or so after 9/11.  It somehow hadn't occurred to me that they were 
going to be stricter about that sort of thing now.
