i think Leo Lyons with TYA. i got to listening to TYA with Alvin Lee
and got to really liking Leo's riffs and progressions. He was inspiring
along with Gary Thain RIP (my second choice!!).
Leo's playing along with Gary's and another bassist Geezer Butler are
the collective reason i got to playing. I now am designing my own
basses as the costs of vintage Giobson basses are too expensive. My
first bass was a violin shaped Vox. My second was a Gibby EB-3
moddified out of a 66 EBO with the 4 way "varitone" but no choke.
i have an Epi EBO with Grover tuners and a NOS 70's split coil
Humbucker pup, a custom lacewood SG with a 32" Maple neck (made out of
a 34" Gibby neck) and a Dark Star pup, a custom 59 EBO with a 60's pup
32" scale, and am working on a Mahogany non-reverse T-Bird body with a
NOS DiMarzio model G with Schaller tuners and a Badass bridge.
my practice amp is a 30 watt Johnson for the living room and a 40 watt
Peavey set in a 60's Vox Berkely head for the studio with a two 12"
speaker cab. For gigging i use a Traynor 200 watt head with a 2-10, 1-
15 cab and i use no added electronics.
