It will come,,,One day you will pick up your bass and ,,,there everything will be right where you think it is. Here's a story that should put a smile on your face. I played a 4 String (Mostly Fender J or Gibson EB3) longer then you have been alive, Then about 6 months ago I got a 6 stringer. Man,,, It kicked my butt for the first month, and talk about hand cramps on the wider neck! WOW! Well you should heve been there the first night I used it at a job. Right there in front of 200 jeering fans I started out "Last Kisss' in G, No biggie, untill the rest of the band came in on the 5th bar,,,You see, we do the tune in C! Right Fret, Wrong String! If you don't already know the top string on a 6er is low B,,,I was on the second string which is E,,,. Now that is the place to be when the top string is E instead of B, and The second string is A (3d fret is C) on a 4. Too bad I didn't pay attantion to the fact I was NOT playing a 4 string bass. The rest of the band is still riding my butt about that one! Needless to say I have been rather carefull as to noticing which bass I'm playing. Point , See we all hit a clam now and then. Just keep the faith and don;t ever get discouraged,,,It will come, Just waite and see! Steve 'da ol' SmokeDog PS, Attached is our band doing "Mack the Knife". It's a real easy bass part and it modulates up a half step each verse.(After the second verse) I think it would be a good one to practice on just for simple exerxise. It starts in Bb. That's B FLAT, For God sake, Dont call that A# (A SHARP) If there ever was such a thing in a major diatonic scale as A# then you could go into a music store and ask for an A# Tenor Sax without them looking at you like you are nuts! It's a Bb Tenor Saxophone!
