Steve, the problem has to do with the size of the acoustic wave of notes in the bass' range. The body of an AEB is just not large enough to deal with it, so what comes out is rather wimpy when compared with its smaller six-stringed brethren. Of course, there's always the option of holding a stand-up bass guitar style ala Lee Rocker on a couple of his album covers, but I believe that is more for the photo op than any real pickin'.

Yea, Rob...

This is just a jam session and it's completly unpluged. we just sit around and play whatever we feel like and sing streight out into the air. It's purely for kicks. Kind of like a beach party.

I was thinkind about maybe a dobro resinator type bass. I saw one in a pictude once but have no idea where to get one and even if it's actually any better then anything else.

Maybe someone has actually seen and heard one?
