It's also possible that you may be experiencing the effects of hearing loss and are boosting the areas where you have the loss (the midrange).  

It can't hurt to go get checked, especially if you're exposed to loud music frequently. I have mild tinnitus now and had earplugs made for me by an audiologist so I don't do any more damage to my ears.
