That sounds like a winner to me too.(Also my beat up old back!) 

I don't think 250 Watts is "only"  Don't forget. Speaker efficency has a LOT to do with the size of the amp you need. 

I always hear guys (Useally guys and ladies under 20 years old) saying you need at liest 500 watts to play the bass. Well maybe so  with newer speakers. Some of this newer stuff is so inefficent (Like 90 db or less)  you can't get to shaking your bear glass unless you drive them a 20KW Diesel Generator. The old JBL D, K and M serise drivers (over 101 Db will go over the threashold of pain 10 feet away at way less then 100 watts. I had had people call my 30 year old JBL loaded tuck and roll Kustom a dental tool ---- It knocks fillings out of teeth if you get carried away. 

Keep in mind that 10db differance between the new stuff and the older drivers requires only a fraction of the power to produce the same sound pressure level. 

In other words, You need 500 (real RMS) watts like a hole in the head if you have 100db+ effeciency rated speakers. Alos, A nice small high efficent 12" Neo or even a couple of Neo 10s  can really do a job in a properly designed and built box and and you won't have to get a charge account at the orthopedic surgon's, if you get my drift.
