 I mention this.. every situation is different.  every club is different, amount of bodies enjoying/absorbing the sound is different. Flooring may be different.  soooo i recommend a minimium of 200 watts. efficient speakers.  like JBL D140's  SHOULD be able to handle a small room. even 4-10 if efficient speakers are used should handle this.  NOW.. the real part of the equation is what your going up against. If you have Ginger Baker, or some similar type drummer, with an Eric Clapton and a full marshall stack w/100 watts, your going to need something larger!!
i have 2/3 rigs.. 1. a SWR workingmans 15,  2. my rack with a QSC RMS850, AND a furman Bi-amp module., SWR Goliath 4-10 cabinet. 3. to really reach out and touch someone,  an extra lows cabinet w/jbl d140  for low freq. and biamped with the goliath running mids and highs. i've been playing over 30 years soo i've accumulated a few things here and there.............  now.. a crown powerbase1 might be a nice thing to attain as well. just dreaming! 

good cords do help,  i'm not much on a compressor. but i've yet to find one i really like.

Perhaps my attack is too light, but I can't possibly do a small gig with a 50 watt amp.  I don't know how you guys do it.  Is it just a patch cable that makes some noise?  Is there a super compressor out there capeale of boosting and cutting miracles?  Help a brother out with some feedback.



My understanding is that Wattage doesn't always reflect how loud an amp is.  Some amp manufacturers rate wattage off the lower point of the soundwave, while others rate off the higher points of the soundwave.  



While certainly within a range that can be considered 50 watts, there is a noticeable variance.  What do you guys think?
