Re: 50 Watt Bass Amps..just some thoughts.

I know all about Crown, In fact the "Last band" had one. It worked OK. But then so did the cheap 8 Ch Kustom powered mixer that the Jazz/Swing had too.  

Besids, I'm not buying anything yet.

,,,,And I am an Engineer at my day job. I have put bandmates amps through my lab. Not a one even comes close to what they claim.Even Crown.

You likly know this,  but AC RMS power is the same power it would take to produce the same amount of heat (or work) that a given DC voltage and Current would produce. (I-squair R heating)

Now if we want to go peak to peak at a zillion percent harmonic distortion you will get that 1 or 2 grand they claim, But lets shoot a sign wave at say 400hz and stop turning it up at say .1% distortion and .....the 2000 watts goes down to 75W RMS. I just think it's total false advertising or at the very liest a gross decption. I have yet to see a musical instrument amp reproduce anything even close to a squair wave, either. (Certinly not OP AMP quality that we use in industrial controls)

My point is if a guy or gal dosn't have an engineering background they can sure get lead down the garden path but quick by the clains of these SOBs. 

I'm not much for government involvment in anything, but this is one place I wish some standardized testing should be implmented.
