I couldn't agree more.

Ampegs are great amps execpt for one thing --- they are for those who care=

enough to spend the verry most. Just like Fender, grossly overpriced, but t=
hey=20
do last and put out a sound sound, But then my 42 year old comptetely stock=
 and=20
vertually untouched (Execept for changing out the=C2=A0Altecs to the JBL-=
=C2=A0M151s)=C2=A0=20
Kustom Tuck and Roll is also running fine and I couldn't have gotten an Amp=
eg=20
head for what I paid for the whole amp and cab.=20


I also have a '65 Fender Dual Showman I bought new and it's still kicking a=
fter=20
changing out the Caps. The only bad thing about it is I traded in my Portaf=
lex=20
for it, but that's another story. =C2=A0(Sure seems like a stupid thing now=
)

I should keep my mouth shut about the old Kustoms because the price is alre=
ady=20
rising. If you ever want to get one I'd get hot pretty soon. The time is al=
ready=20
far too late for the "real"=C2=A0Fenders and old Ampegs, though.=20


Just a note for the younger gang that may not know,,,,The only=C2=A0thing t=
he=C2=A0old=20
Kustom by Ross from Chanute KS have have in common with the new "kustom" is=
 the=20
name. Not=C2=A0 anything is the same.=20


By the way, As far as a neat combo amp goes every once in a while you come=
=20
across an old Kustom "Charger" with a stock D140F JBL driver and they useua=
lly=20
go for a song.=C2=A0In a combo amp that=C2=A0would be my second choice afte=
r a Portaflex=20
(Fat chance finding one of those at a good price though!)

I'm an Ampeg person myself. For large gigs I use an Ampeg SVT head with
an Ampeg 410 cab. But for the last few years, I've been manly useing an
Ampeg B200R 200 watt combo amp, for most of my gigs, that I had tweaked
out. The amp has a tube pre-amp in it to give you that nice warm tube
sound & an XLR out which is nice also. The only problems that I've ever
had with this amp, was an anoying rattle cause by Ampeg useing cheap
brackets, to hold the cab to the head, the lack of enough baffling in
the cab to help knock off the rest of that rattling noise & too give it
more focus & a much fuller tone. I had these problems fixed right, by my
amp tech for 80.00 bucks. Since I had those problems fixed. This amp
sounds exactly like an old motown B15 & has not given me any trouble at
all. I've had it now for about three or four years & it's become my main
rig these days. Due to it's lite weight & great tone. You can probably
pick one up for about 299.00 to 399.00 on ebay. I hope this helps out
some. If you prefer solid state amps, there a bunch out there new & used
for good prices. Note: I'd stay away from Behrenger though! Just IMO.
