The difference between Richter and solo/scale is the collection of
available notes. The order is unexpected, pair-inverted, on both. The
pair-inversion is a characteristic of all tremolo harmonicas. Lots of
people find that it makes no sense to them. It starts to make sense,
only when you are playing the instrument. But remember: each hole is
exactly one note, either draw, or blow, and not both. So if you
consider every horizontal PAIR of holes as significant, you can ignore
the pair-inversion, and the advantage will come out very quickly. The
advantage is very simple: it is immensely easier to isolate one single
note that you want, or especially one single chord that you want, on
tremolo, than on ten/twelver.

The above is one of the reasons I wrote the "learning" page as I did,
with a focus on intuition and a defocus on intellect :) Have you looked
at it? It's here: http://joshuacorps.org/friends/thetremolo/learning.html
