 Yes, the replacing of the resistors is naturally a more elegant solution, but if you are not a qualified technician the risk to damage the (double sided) printed circuit board is high (and you definitely need 1/8W-Resistors (3,3mm x 1,7mm)).
 
That`s the reason, why i prefer the simple parallel-soldering-method (Here you can also use conventional 1/4W-resistors.).
