Hi Mo, Yes I am familiar with what you are talking about. I had to do something similar with a Roland I had at one point. I would take you up on your offer, but am pretty sure it is a chip that was damaged during the battery swap. I wouldn't want to waste your time and money if the display chip on the mobo is damaged and wouldn't ever display proper chars. I would be happy to test if you really think that it is the display that is damaged and not the mobo chip.
