Well, you certainly know stuff, but you don't have an other K5 to compare
with yours.

I hope you didn't damage any traces... lots of via holes are hidden under
components in there, and the service manual doesn't have the PCB layout in
it. Point-to-point is an option as you stated. Just in case, I use an other
method which could save you time. You can scrape the solder mask layer on a
PCB trace with a miniature flat-bladed screwdriver next to the solder pad,
then you use a small gauge wire (I use CAT5) to connect the component pin
back to the trace.
