ok, inverter soldering done and nothing happened; inverter checked: it was putting out something like 380v or so (not sure, anyway it was a high value), so it *was* working... new backlight bought and installed; the display was working fine, then after a few seconds (less than a minute for sure), backlight gone again... the 'problem' is that a friend of mine did all the work for me; the display was working again so he went home... what I described happened after the 2nd power-up, just a few minutes after he went home, so I am here alone, clueless and with the non-working backlight again... :( except this, my K5 is working ok... anyway, I cannot hear the inverter 'whine' anymore after the new backlight failed to light the display, so I think this should be the problem... what happened? is the inverter gone for real this time? could it be another problem? best regards and thanks in advance, Fabio --- In [email protected], "somethingkillingyou" <somethingkillingyou@...> wrote: > > Hi Antoine, > > yes, I can hear a high pitched noise coming from the power supply zone, so I guess that the inverter is working?!?! now I need to ask a friend to do the soldering job, hoping this will cure it... > ------------------------------------
