Basic advice on Karma/Cubase MIDI setup

Hi,

I've just set up a basic system with a Karma, Cubase LE, and a 
Focusrite Saffire firewire midi/audio interface to my PC.

Audio recording is fine, but I've been struggling for days trying to 
get the basic MIDI setup so that I can control the MIDI patch from 
Cubase.

I have done the following:
-installed the Karma patch list
-turned local MIDI off on the Karma
-turned MIDI thru on in Cubase
-the MIDI settings in Cubase are: 
     in - all MIDI inputs
     out - Karma
     chn - 1
     prg - seems to be a pull down menu that resembles the settings 
on my v2.0 Karma
     no drum map

When I scroll up/down in the prg pulldown, it doesn't change the 
settings on the Karma....

I've gone through the various manuals with no luck - any help would 
be greatly appreciated!!!!!!
