Hi
I know the key to this instrument is just to spend hours
with it trying stuff other than just playing it.
My learning curve though tends to be pretty flat. Like I spent a few
hours attempting to make a combi that sounded
like the Flute guitar rift that often is heard on Brazillan music
with the two instruments harmonizing as fifths or 3rds. When I got done,
the two instruments sounded muffled and the effect was lost. Yes I
had them playing as harmony but well..
Many software programs have 3rd party books and there are
lots of folks on the web that might teach basic synth use. Is the
Rudess site a good place to get training? Are there books, website etc.?
I want to learn some basic stuff like building effective
combis. Stacking progs so that I can use them in a performance in a
meaningful way ( is it done via a computer or can it be done on the
KARMA it self?) Really understanding the 8 knobs for interactive
KARMA play or the four main knobs and what the little descriptors
really mean. Can one use a single KARMA to play multiple things
perhaps with a second keyboard or pedal board and play a variety of
different progs at once using the midi channels. It seems that this
instrument is so far beyond the basic synth, that those acronyms that
trained synth users use just gloss over us keyboardist. I am not lazy
with reading, I just want my time to be spent in a meaningful way
where I can see real growth and hear success through my KARMA.
Any comments will be appreciate.
thanks
Greg
