How do you create Drum Beats and use the Internal Sequencer?? Please Help

 Good Evening,
 I am very new to using keyboards and recently bought a Korg Karma but
 cannot find a simple way of creating beats and using the internal
 sequencer. There is so much technical jargon in the manual that I
 don't understand what they mean. 
 Do I have to hook it to a computer and use something like pro-tools
to        do this or is the internal sequencer just fine?
 I am technically illiterate but want to learn more, is there anyone in
 this group that could help me with creating beats and using the
 internal sequencer? Of course I would really appreciate plain simple
 layman language.
