Dear Mr. Sachdeva,
I have had a Karma unit since the late 1990s and haven't experienced those
exact problems; but here are some possible things to try:
1. Save your current program on a floppy (if you can find one); or
possibly by linking it to a computer through a USB workaround.
2. Download the latest operating system from Korg, save on a floppy
and then upload to the Karma.
3. If that doesn't help, then it may be a glitch in the motherboard.
Ask a technician to check memory chips.
4. If you are able to access the unit check to see if there are any
blown capacitors. They're a sign that the unit has overheated. Capacitors
can be replaced.
5. Try using the keyboard as a master for rack mounted sound
modules---or even an inexpensive Casio-style piano. If that fails, then you
can narrow down the potential causes. If it WORKS but the Karma programs
are still bad, consider searching for an old Triton module. At that time
they used the same program combis.
Hope that helps.
Incidentally, my training is in Industrial Hygiene and Safety. Back in 2000
I tried to set up a micro-manufacturing site near Bourg-al-Arab, Egypt to
give the overflow from Cairo and Alexandria something to do. The project
was just about to receive funding when 9-11 happened. So much for that!
Sounds like you have a very interesting and important job.
Kindest Regards,
R. Miller

Subject: [korgkarma] KARMA PROBLEM
Hi,
I am Sanjeev Sachdeva from Bhopal India. I have been using KARMA since1996.
Just to give my introduction....I am a Civil Engineer and a small
Industrialist by profession. We manufacture Domestic Water Storage Tanks at
our manufacturing Unit.We are also specialised in rehabilitation and
stregthening of old Bridges and Culverts of Natioanl Highways.Music is my
hobby and passion.
Suddenly I have found a problem in my KARAMA. The problem is that various
parameters of Karma are changing automatically while playing.
Like
1) In Combination mode , the programmes assigned to combinations are
suddenly changing abruptly and automatically.
2) While working in Global Mode the master key shift value is changing
automatically viz. 5 .... 3..... 2......( in a gap of some seconds)
3) While playing , suddenly the combination loses the IFX effects assigned
to it and start sounding totally dry.
4) While performing on the stage the instrument suddenly gets untuned (
without any notice :-) and start sounding in a a different scale.
I am very much worried and look forward to suggestions how to solve this
Problem.
My software of Karama is 2..0.,2
PL HELP IF THERE IS ANY KNOWN SOLUTION FOR IT.
Thanks and Regards
Sanjeev
