That is an interesting and ambitious project . I still have 2 K2000's and 1 k2500 all rack units and it would be interesting to see improvement in the electronics through software.
I think the development and production would be a large time investment but I am not a computer nor electronics expert. There are people on here who can help you with the schematics, but don't know if all were ever released my Kurzweil. Your right in that there were more updates for the 2500 and maybe that is why there weren't more for the k2000.

Why not just turn the k2000 into something similar to the 2500 or 2600. But I think that would be difficult with software .
