Possible, but I would look at the CPU daughter board that sits atop of it.
Typically the contense of the flash roms get erased. This is because the flash Rom erase pin needs 12v. Unfortionately, this pin is indirectly connect thru other circuits to the tip of the audio out jacks. If you touch the tip of an audio cable to say a grounded mixer without having the keyboard also ground, a static discharge travel into the erase pin and clears all the data, including the boot up instruction. This is very common on the,keyboard version. It rarely happens to a rack version..
There are other ways that a blue screen of death can occur, but this is number one.

when buying a used K25-26..make sure the key up is not a clunking sound..but a decent one can be had, I guess, for $500ishbut I'd check ALL buttons....

forgive my defeatist attitude..but possibly, some times,the best answer is to purchase a used instrument in decent shape and sell the cadaver one to a party that would salvage parts?

So it's been awhile since I've posted here. I have a 20 year old k2500 that is dead. You guys described it as the Blue Death Screen, I believe. I still have the keyboard but it doesn't power up.
I would like to revive that keyboard, purchase a used one, or buy something that would give me the same capabilities.
With that in mind let me ask some questions:What part would it take to bring this keyboard back to life? I think I knew that answer but if I did I forgot.
Would buying a used 2500 make sense? I don't plan on using it in live gigs. Just in the studio for strings and horns, etc.
Can anyone recommend a keyboard that would be a good replacement for the 2500?
