The 152 has 7 speaker and several different amps, so rule them out, as no o=
ne failure kills all.=C2=A0 And you hear pops or thumps, so power supplies =
and fuses are okay probably.
On power up, a number of mute circuits prevent loud pops.=C2=A0 One type is=
in some of the amps.=C2=A0 Other mutes are in the pre and post the amp dri=
vers to the power amps.=C2=A0 The mutes also reduce pops in the headphones =
and as well as what goes to the power amps.=C2=A0=C2=A0
Headphones seem normal or almost?
There are very few items that can affect all speakers and headphones.=C2=A0=
And most of those would cause bad distortions or other issues.=C2=A0 All a=
udio path are stereo, again few part can kill both sides.
What jack are you using for the Peavy amp?=C2=A0 The headphone or RCA?
(The low impedance output circuit that drives the headphone has enough driv=
e for a guitar amp to work even if the mute curcuit is down.=C2=A0 This wou=
ld also result in a louder turn on or off pop.=C2=A0=C2=A0
The JFET muted only partially mute, each is about 20db, as I recall.=C2=A0=
=C2=A0
Does the master volume slider vary the low volume somewhat?=C2=A0 Any pops =
or zipper noise?=C2=A0 Turn on or turn off pops some are "normal".
There are built in test modes that aid repairs.
My experiences has been that few techs can repair this issue, as they rarel=
y have the basic knowledge or repetitive experience.=C2=A0 The tend to want=
to guess change parts, assemblies, or send them to "the factory".
