Pmadden – thanks for popping out of lurker mode and offering your opinion on the FTP. It shows true class that you offer such praise for the FTP given that your app is essentially a competitor to the FTP. To acknowledge that there are different tools with different performance expectations (and price points) shows that you have a realistic overview of what is out there and how people are using these wonderful tools. As an electrical engineer I can agree that technology moves quickly. However given that is the case I think it’s all the more reason that Bluechip/Axon/Terratec really owes it to the musical community to release the schematics for all of their orphaned products. Electrically speaking none of this has even been cutting edge, it has always been the firmware that contained the important intellectual property. While I understand a company keeping schematics to themselves during a products life cycle (not that I am happy about it) I really think they should be released once a company no longer offers a viable service path. I do not believe keeping these older devices in circulation will effect sales on any of the newer devices because let’s face it – the people that are actually using this stuff are willing to do what it takes to keep up with the latest technology. At least most of us! :-) FWIW: I am currently using a Roland GR-55 because it lets me do everything with one box. I hope to move to a FTP sometime soon but for now the GR-55 serves my needs pretty well. Thanks, Dave
