"My recent contributions to this Yahoo group exceed my involvement in making music of the last five years" Well I for one am very happy that you're getting the bug again Chris :-) I tried Jam Origin a long time ago (for Win PC) and was a beta tester for a while. I was underwhelmed with it, to say the least. It seemed glitchy, and not smooth at all, and the standard piano voice (arguably the hardest voice to play with midi geetar) sounded terrible to my ears. I patched it to a midi expander, and it was just as bad.. A total glitchy waste of time.. My Axon AX100 and Roland GK systems were much better as midi sources.. I know that the Axon and Roland GK systems are dedicated hex, and the Jam Origin is much cheaper and simpler, and also that Jam Origin is not trying to be an Axon or a GK ... But it seems to me that they're trying too hard to extract chordal data from a jack lead, and it just doesn't work IMO. I gave up on it after trying for ages to get some audible sense out of it.. It was just frustrating, despite all the hype, and vibrato within a held chord was impossible, and bends not good at all. It might have been developed with something like the TC Helicon Harmoniser 'pitch recognition over a guitar cable' in mind, and that works reasonably well, (from what I've heard of TC Helicon) but IMO as an app trying to send 6 x coherent midi data streams to an expander, or to onboard voices, it fails miserably.. just my 2 stotinkis worth, and it may be much better now.. I don't know... richard bg (Bulgaria)
