I agree. I just built a dedicated PC to run Jam Origin. I'm now
running my PG380's midi to one Roland synth and its straight pickup
output through the computer running Jam Origin to another Roland synth
and Jam Origin is almost perfect. So much so that my GK's and Axons and
Roland converters, and everything else will be up for sale soon. I've
even run the PG380 through my POG down one octave into Jam Origin's Bass
Guitar Midi and it's almost perfect too. The setup's kind of bulky but
I built the computer into a rack case and it just flits into my rack.
I've modified the computer's operating system to only run necessary
processes and it's not connected to the internet. The input is a Tascam
2X2 and the midi out is via M-Audio MIDISPORT straight into a Roland
JV-1010. Being a computer engineer, I plan to build it all into one
portable box but for now, and just at home, it works just fine the way
it is. I've never had anything better.
BTW, the software is $100 and the license is for as many computers as
you want as long as they belong to you. You can even run the program
more than once on the same computer. So I could have a friend plugged
into channel two of everything and both channels would work.
This is only a semi-commercial product. Its money comes from the Danish
Ministry of Science which funds worthy projects. The lead programmer is
an artificial intelligence researcher and an expert is Digital Signal
Processing. This setup reminds me of the old Bell Labs.
