This would be a very bad course for macOS.  The base Perl should be left
alone.  And Apple is also warning that macOS is likely the stop
including Perl.

The only option will be installing MacPorts, Perlbrew, or similar.  And
installing MacPorts depends on installing XCode.  And I believe MacPorts
no longer packages v5.14.  So LMS will require some significant work
here, CryptX being the least of its concerns.
