There is an option under Additional Browse Modes called "Disks and folders". When activated, it adds a Disks and folders option to My Music which allows access to the entire file system of the computer hosting LMS, instead of being limited to the library. I think when files from outside the library are played, they are not added to the library. But putting them in a playlist would probably defeat that. You can add an entire folder to the current queue, though. That's not what you're looking for, but I hope it helps. Additional Browse Modes have to be activated on a per-player basis. Go to Player tab on the Settings page. Select the player from the first dropdown list and then pick Additional Browse Modes from the second dropdown list. Usually running latest beta LMS nightly on Raspberry Pi OS with virtual players (Squeezelite and Airplay bridge).
