if you are referring to @ktp's suggestion of power to the HDD, yes it
could. But maybe unlikely to be so repeatable.

If you are running a USB Hdd connected to the rpi USB port, the power to
the drive is supplied by the rpi, who get's it's power form the rpi
power supply (brick). That is why it is stressed to get an official rpi
power supply, for that particular rpi. When power supplies are asked to
provide more current than they can (due to age, wrong size, or just
cheap), they still try, but the voltage drops. You could be dropping
into a gray zone (barely working) and something else happens 30 seconds
in. Who knows, allot at play here.

The suggestion to try the USB stick is a good one. If the problem
remains, it's probably not the HDD or rpi power supply. If the problem
resolved, you know it's related to the drive.
