Moving from a pc to a pi was one of the best things that ever happened to my system. No more "hey, what happened to the music?" when I turned of the PC (Mr. Oblivious :o). However I do understand you need to just listen to move that 30 seconds of your music at a time. ;) Please don't let this experience sour you on trying LMS on a rpi again some day. In fact, why not build a test system with your pi and a thumb drive, with you alac files and a few other formats, mp3, etc.? Get that working and go from there. One point of caution though, turn your PC LMS off when you are testing. Goofy things and confusion can happen with 2 instances of LMS on the same network.
