Well, the obvious answer to this one is two-fold.  Support DHCP on the client
side, and implement a rudimentary (**optional**) DHCP server on the server side.

This way, if we are talking about a simple Windows end-user here, they can install
the server code and start it up, and it would somehow pick an IP address range that
is not in use (no, I don't have any thoughts on this, but it can be a question asked
during install with a default answer if the user doesn't know how to answer.  And 
chances are if the user doesn't know how to answer, there are only 3 or 4 IPs used
on his/her network anyway and we should be fine.) and then the user can plug in the
SliMP3 device, it uses DHCP to obtain its IP information, and all is well.  This way those
of use who have working DHCP implementations on our networks will be happy, and 
Joe Blow End User will also be able to get his device up and running with minimal
know-how and effort.
