Any more opinions on this? I think
we should go with the following,

unless anyone objects:

I object to this one:

- 'play' on file: make a new playlist of
the current directory, and then

start from this file

It should be:

- 'play' on file: play the currently displayed song and then stop
when it finishes.

just like this:

- 'play' on url: play this stream, and
stop when the stream finishes

Does anyone have any clever ideas for how
to avoid the delay when scanning

large directories and displaying large
playlists via the web interface?

It's not the scanning of directories that's slow, its the
grabbing of ID3 information from each file.

Two ideas:

1. Cache the ID3 information for each song in the "current
directory" and the "current playlist".

2. Fork the process (sorry Windows and Mac users) when responding
to the web request (after any changes to the control or playlist have
been made). That way the speed of the connection back to the web
client doesn't slow down the IR UI or playback.
