Well, my colleague just tried using his new SliMP3 with his WinNT server,
with no success. In an attempt to duplicate his problems, I installed
ActiveState Perl on my WinXP notebook and had a go. Here are my findings:
Using 1.01 or 1.5:
Errors about MP3/Tag not being in the path. This is expected, as the
CPAN directory is not included. Copying the appropriate files
(including the additional File methods) into C:\Perl\lib or
\Perl\site\lib fixes this.
Multiple problems parsing the SLIMP3.INI file created by setup.pl.
One of the main problems is the backslash Windows uses to denote
directories. Perl is, of course, interpreting these as escape
characters. Hand-modifying the SLIMP3.INI file to replace all
instances of \ with \\ fixes this.
It is also necessary to enclose the path in single quotes (').
Finally, this eliminates errors, but the file is still not being
parsed, because executing "perl server.pl" results in a usage error.
Executing "perl server.pl --mp3dir c:\foo\bar" works just fine,
suggesting that either the SLIMP3.INI file isn't parsed correctly, or
the current code errors if there are no additional arguments on the
command line.
(Sorry that I did not test this with Dean's code, but until it can
handle HTTP redirects, it's not of interest).
