Shuffling and unshuffling (was Re: ID3 tag question)

Speaking of which...  How about an option to turn that off?  "Stop
shuffling" = "Unshuffle" doesn't make logical sense to me.  I'm still
running a (very) old version of the server and hitting 'record' to
remove a song from the playlist will remove a random song rather than
the current one if I'm on 'shuffle', but I can't just work around
this by randomizing the list, then turning shuffle off and letting it
go, since turning 'shuffle' off restores the list's original order.
Not that big a thing if the server now deletes the correct song when
shuffled, but I still intuitively expect a playlist to stay shuffled
when I stop shuffling it, just like a deck of cards stays shuffled.


Byond that, though, I'd like to see a 'continuous shuffle' option.
Something which (although it would be nice to still have access to the
history of what has been played) operates by jumping randomly through
the playlist rather than by reordering the playlist and then playing
it straight through.  On the surface, it may seem identical, but I
can name two substantial differences off the top of my head:

1)  The existing 'shuffle' plays every song in the playlist once,
then plays them all a second time, etc.  A 'continuous shuffle' could
play any song at any time, potentially even playing the same one
twice consecutively.

2)  As it stands, reordering a shuffled playlist requires you to
unshuffle and reshuffle it, which means that, if you just let the
player run forever, you'll keep hearing your songs in the same order,
over and over again, unless manual action is taken.  A 'continuous
shuffle' would not repeat itself so readily.
